Our Staff

Carol L. Medeiros is a partner and has worked in the Public Accounting field since 1979. She has been with our firm since 1983.

Carol provides services in the areas of income tax planning and compliance, financial statement auditing, business consulting and estate tax planning. She has worked extensively in the fields of agriculture, real estate, construction and manufacturing.

Carol graduated, with honors, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a concentration in accounting from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo.

She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.  She has been actively involved in the 4-H program, church and school boards of directors, as well as various purebred and commercial beef organizations.

Michael F. Schmidt is a partner and has worked in public accounting since 1977.

Mike’s practice encompasses all aspects of income tax planning and preparation, estate and gift taxation and financial management consultation with specific emphasis on:

He has a broad experience base working directly with clients in the agricultural industry, construction trades, real estate field and legal profession. His expertise reaches clients throughout the state and beyond.

Mike is a graduate of California State University, Stanislaus, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Leonard R. Bettencourt is a Certified Public Accountant and has worked in public accounting since 1977. His expertise is in the areas of income, estate and gift taxation.

Leonard graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Margarita Parker is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has been with our firm since 1992.

Margarita provides tax and financial compliance services and works extensively in the estate, trust and gift tax areas.  She has substantial experience working with clients in the fields of agriculture, manufacturing and retail service.  Prior to joining our firm, she worked at the Internal Revenue Service for seven years.

Margarita graduated Magna Cum Laude from California State University, Stanislaus, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting.  In 1995 she earned a Masters in Taxation degree from Golden Gate University.

Margarita is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant’s and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Stephanie (Stevie) A. Griffin is a Certified Public Accountant and has been with our firm since 1993.

Stevie provides tax and compliance services for clients in a variety of industries.  She has extensive experience working with clients in the fields of agriculture, construction, manufacturing and retail service.  Prior to joining our firm, she worked in private industry as an accounting manager and has over twenty years of experience in the accounting profession.

Stevie graduated Cum Laude from California State University, Stanislaus where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting.  She is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Sheril Vieira Imfeld is a Certified Public Accountant and joined our firm in July of 2008. She worked with us from 1993 to 1997 and acquired her CPA license in 1996 while working as staff accountant.

Her specific areas of expertise are individual and business taxation, business consulting, and financial accounting. Sheril has specialized in the dairy industry and is skilled working with clients in a variety of fields such as manufacturing and retail service. Additionally, she managed internal controls including financial statements, peer review, monitoring and computer support. She has worked at streamlining accounting processes and procedures in the areas of payrolls and business property statements and is a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

Sheril graduated from California State University, Fresno where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Business with a concentration in accounting. She is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and BNI (Business Network International).

Colleen Parsons is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has been with our firm since 1989.

Colleen’s specific areas of expertise are computer consulting, agricultural, retail and construction industry accounting, tax planning and tax preparation. Colleen is an audit supervisor with the firm and supervises audits of employee benefit plans, not-for-profits, and small business audits. She has over 20 years of experience in the accounting profession. Before joining our office, Colleen worked in private industry in construction, retail and manufacturing environments.

Colleen graduated with honors from National University in Sacramento California and has a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Christine (Chrissy) Stiles is a Certified Public Accountant and has been with the firm since 2002. She has worked as an accountant since 2000.

Her specific areas of expertise with computer consulting, including QuickBooks, and the agricultural industry, as well as tax planning and tax preparation, makes her an invaluable asset. Chrissy is, also, one of the principal auditors in the firm, focusing on employee benefit plans, not-for-profit, governmental and HUD.

Chrissy graduated from California State University at Stanislaus, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a concentration in accounting. She is President of the San Joaquin Chapter of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Geri Sousa Arndt is a senior staff accountant and California Registered Tax Preparer. Geri has been with the firm since 1990.

Geri’s specific areas of expertise are computer consulting, agricultural, legal, medical and construction industries as well as tax planning and tax preparation. Geri has had extensive experience setting up and implementing accounting software for a wide variety of clients and conducts training seminars for QuickBooks software users. Prior to joining the firm, Geri worked as an accounting manager for a general contractor engaged in building large sub-divisions.

Geri has pursued a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. Geri is fluent in the Portuguese language and has been in the accounting profession since 1986.

Susan (Sue) Baldwin is a staff accountant and has been with our firm since 1999.

Sue supports our firm’s clients in many areas, including payroll, bookkeeping, Workers’ Compensation, sales and mill tax, and tax preparation.  She has experience with Microsoft Office, Lacerte and QuickBooks software.  In addition, Sue coordinates the firm’s payroll services, including write-up, direct deposit, Forms 1099 and W-2 preparation.  She, also, organizes and ensures the efficient flow of the e-filing of tax returns and as the firm’s archivist, oversees file maintenance and the storage of documents.

Sue has a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington State University in Foods and Business.  She worked in the field of dairy processing for 20 years in laboratory work and office administration.  She is currently attending continuing education classes.

Mike Kambel is a staff accountant and has been with the firm since March of 2007.  He has experience in the areas of tax preparation, bookkeeping, and payroll.  Mike is presently participating in an assortment of classes to enhance his knowledge in various software programs, i.e. Lacerte, Quickbooks.

Mike graduated from California State University, Stanislaus, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a concentration in accounting.  He is currently completing his requirements to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). 

Genie Lombardo is a staff accountant and has been with the firm since 2006.

She has been in the field of accounting for over 25 years. Genie provides services through financial statements, as well as all phases of reporting requirements for payroll, Workers’ Compensation and sales and mill tax. She has worked in the fields of manufacturing, construction, corporate based hospitality and non-profit water districts.

Genie graduated from California State University, Stanislaus, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. She is a Master Graduate of Rapport Leadership International and has completed a course in tax preparation. She is also a member of the committee for Emerging Professionals Group, San Joaquin Chapter sponsored under the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. Genie has lived in the Modesto/Turlock area all her life.

Cynde Macedo is a staff accountant and has been with the firm since 2008.  She has experience in the areas of tax preparation, bookkeeping, and payroll.

Cynde graduated from California State University, Stanislaus, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a concentration in accounting.  She is currently completing her requirements to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).  She is also a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Shirley K. Westlund is a senior accountant and has been with our firm since 1999.

She has been in the accounting profession since 1987.  her concentrations are in tax planning, tax preparation, financial statement preparation, and payroll services.  She has experience with various accounting programs including QuickBooks.  Her industry experience includes, but is not limited to, real estate firms, medical practices and the agricultural industry.

Shirley is a 1987 graduate of the California State University, Stanislaus,  She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting.

Daniel Yonan is a staff accountant and has been with the firm since 2005.  He has expertise in many areas including payroll, bookkeeping and tax preparation.  He is also one of the staff auditors focusing on employee benefit plans and not-for-profit organizations.

Daniel graduated from California State University, Stanislaus, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a concentration in accounting.  He has completed an income tax preparation class and is currently completing his requirements to be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). 

Hazel Rosebrough is the Firm Administrator and has been with the firm since 1976.

Hazel administers the company records, accounts receivable, accounts payable, personnel records and various other facets of the firm’s business. She checks and proofs reports and financial statements prepared for clients prior to the accountants’ and partner’s final review. In addition she provides accounting services to select clients. Prior to working for our firm she was in retail office management in Southern California and Arizona.

Sharon Thompson is the Operations Administrator and has been with the firm since 2002.

Sharon supervises the front desk and reception area including telephones, maintenance of the office equipment, filing and streamlining overall office efficiency.  Along with these duties, she assists the partners with administrative tasks and organizational skills.  Sharon brings to our firm a variety of knowledge and abilities in the areas of office management, bookkeeping and corporate administration.  Her diverse experience affords her working knowledge in the fields of agriculture, property investment and property management markets, small business, and the corporate based hospitality industry. 

Sharon attended Heald College with an emphasis in Secretarial and Accounting courses.  By attending software and technical classes regularly, she continues her education in an effort to keep pace with the ever-changing world of technology.

Michelle Arviso is the Receptionist and has been with the firm since 2003.

Michelle answers the phone, greets clients at the counter, directs questions and paperwork to the appropriate staff member, types correspondence and various forms, maintains the office supply inventory, manages the mail and postal equipment, runs errands, copies documents and files.  In addition to these duties, she assists the partners and staff as needed.

Prior to working with our firm, Michelle performed secretarial duties throughout two successive tax seasons at a certified public accounting office.  She brings this valuable experience along with excellent customer service skills learned in the retail industry. 

Michelle is enrolled at Modesto Junior College in general education courses and has received a Bookkeeping Certificate from CSUS, Stanislaus.  She continues her education, not only to keep in step with software and technology changes, but to receive her degree.

Ellen (Nellie) Morse is an Administrative Support Staff member and has been with the firm since 2005.

Nellie supports our Receptionist in all aspects of the diverse job tasks related to that position.  In addition to these duties, she copies and puts together tax returns, facilitates the e-filing of tax returns, assists the firm archivist with filing and storage responsibilities and is training with staff to learn basic bookkeeping. 

Nellie has an extraordinary background in the hospitality industry and, more specifically, food and beverage.  This extensive experience affords our clients and staff with exceptional customer service skills.
